
The ruins of the Temple of Bel, the pagan god of the ancient city of Palmrya, Syria. This is one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world, and new discoveries are being made all the time. Of particular note is the work being done on excavating the elaborate tombs of the wealthy citizens of Palmyra. Our guide reckons there will be more unveiled in the next two years.
